Welcome
Quo vadam et quare?
A latin phrase which, literally translated, means “Where am I to go?”, is a fitting summation of the thoughts, ideas, and dreams which I have entertained since embarking on this journey of life, love, faith, and truth. Every day, from sunrise to sunset, the questions of what we should do, how we should do it, and where it will take us, drive even the simplest of our actions. However, the one question, the catalyst which ignites all the burning questions we face in the day to day walk of life, is simply the question of where we shall go.
Where am I going? Where will it lead me? Why am I going anywhere? These are questions that float through my mind every day. Naturally, they lead to other questions. Questions of how to live life, how to take pleasure in the good things, how to discard the bad, and how to discern between the good and the bad. Questions of war, of peace, and of the human condition. Questions about people, their thoughts, their actions, or their seeming lack of either. Questions which lead to discussions and discussions which lead to relationships. Relationships which lead to intense pain as well as exquisite pleasure. The question of where to go next, what to do when I get there, and the amalgamation of fear and excitement felt when starting the cycle anew.
Along this journey, as short as it has been thus far, I’ve experienced much. I’ve lived in a few places, I’ve met a few people, and I’ve seen a few things. I’ve eaten exotic food, drank strange drink, and rarely regretted it. I’ve ingested dubious substances and lived to warn against. I’ve been comfortable, and I’ve been yanked out of my comfort zone. I’ve had the privilege of living among and being blessed by those the world sees as lost or outcast and I’ve lived among those who are largely ungrateful of their own privilege. I’ve gone through spells of intense introversion, intense extroversion, and danced somewhere on the line in between. I’ve learned to live, but not without the occasional falter, as if tomorrow is a gift.
Life, as it has been said, is a journey of experience. Experiences which, ultimately, weave a tapestry whose colors and patterns are innumerable, and tell the story of a journey from life to death, touching all the senses, physical and metaphysical alike. As with any great story, which, whether we believe it or not, we all have to tell, true appreciation only comes when we are able to share our experiences, relating with and engaging something, or someone, other than ourselves.
It is my hope that, as you browse through these pages and pictures, wading through the rants, raves, quips, quotes, and musings of sometimes indeterminate length, that you might find something to engage, something to hold onto, or something which will leave you with at least a little more than you brought to the table and, perhaps, asking yourself the question:
Quo vadam et quare?
Welcome to my journey,
